Barrio dance is a celebration of the Philippine countryside, taking place in a barrio- a small village or neighbourhood. During a barrio fiesta, the community comes together to celebrate various cultural activities through music and dance. Rooted in tradition and history, these dances tell stories of everyday life, rituals, and celebrations, capturing the spirit and heart of rural Filipino communities. Students will be guided through joyful, lively movements that reflect daily life in the Philippines such as planting, fishing, and harvesting.
Recommended grades: Any grade or skill level, but best suited for grades 2 - 5
Supplies needed: No supplies, but space to move around is needed.
